I had a very productive day today. George got up early and had some banking business and shopping to do in Champaign, and when he left I got up and straightened up dusted the living room--boy, did it need it!! (you know how things just gather and then it gets to be clutter?) George has been fighting a chest cold for the past week--he hasn't left the house in over a week--and so he felt good enough to go and do some errands today. We had some snow two mornings ago, but as soon as the sun came out and it warmed up it melted, but I got some pictures. And the weather forcast for the rest of this week is calling for high 40's to low 50's. That is good becasuse we have a full week ahead of us. Wednesday night Travis is going to work only half a shift and he will be done at 7 or 8--of course, I have to go and get him. Then his brother or his dad are comming to get him that night--he is going to his dad's for Thanksgiving. So George and I will be "home alone" for Thanksgiving--we are planning to go out to eat at Doc's--which used to be the Triple K--in Buckley. They have a really good spread for Thanksgiving--excellent meal!! And we will be taking Frannie with us becasue she is off and has no family here either. It should be a nice afternoon. Thursday night, Rob Knell and I are hosting a 'family" type leftover potluck up at the Bowling Alley. We want to be with all our friends and eat and be merry--but they got to bring a dish to share!! Then on Friday morning George is in one of his "early shopping" modes, as he is planning on us being in Champaign for shopping at 5 a.m.--we'll see how it goes!! haha. Saturday, our town is having it's Christmas parade and clebration stuff going on--we've never been as we have no little ones, but George seems interested in going to check it out this year. I guess.
And then Sunday is the day to recuperate, and get ready for Monday--unless the Bears are playing--???? I'm not really a fan of football, but they have to be better than the Packers. (sorry Wisconsin relatives!!) ha ha ha--little joke.
Well, that is all for now--I think I am caught up.
Although it saddens me to think that I will never have a "reason" to go to Crystal Falls anymore, I am excited for John and Betty and Pennie and their big move. I hope you have lots of help and don't try to do it all in one day!! George and I look forward to visiting you there next time we come up.
Until next time, have a great Thanksgiving everyone!!
Chris and George

the next generation...

I snapped this picture of John's grandaughter Breanna. I called them the other day to see how much snow they got (some) but he daid they got jipped out of a real Indian summer. I said I was sorry, that we were having it for them and if I could I would send some it their way. I asked if he had heard from our other sister who went to New York and he had not heard from her yet, so we don't know when she will be back. I keep looking for her on the Today show, because I told her to go and stand out front with all the other tourists and that I would be watching for them, but I haven't seen her there yet either. I know they were going to 4 shows, and going to ellis island. I suggested that they go to ground zero, but she didn't seem interested in going there. Anyway I am anxious for them to get back and here about their trip!
I also video taped John's sermon, the whole service in fact and when we get it downloaded we will send him and Betty a copy, and he can make more copies to share. I hope the sound is better than with Peter's. We'll see. And don't look for it soon as he has alot of film making projects to finish before that one (for our sister's side of the family and they all get together at Thanksgiving).
Well hope everyone has a good week. Until next time, take care.
Chris and George

This picture too...

Sorry, this picture didn't take the first time...

Sunday pictures

Here are a couple of family shots taken last Sunday. It was an emotional day for all of us, and then I had to drive back all the way to Illinois by myself on Monday. I drove the round about way becasue I am not a Nascarr driver and don't like any kind of traffic at all--so I took the long way around Green bay, and then all two-lane country highways the rest of the way. I don't like to drive at night either, so yeasterday when I was stressing out and it was geting dark, I finally found a motel and pulled over for the night, although I really wanted to get home. Needless to say, I didn't start out this morning from central Wisonsin umntil 9 am and just pulled into the drive way at 3:00 --just in time to take my son to work!! (don't worry, I had George drive him today, ha ha).
So I am going to finish chilling out now, and see what is on TV tonight. Hopefully, it won't be another rerun--already??--of Gilmore Girls!! I am losing interest really fast with that program anyway becasue of the new producers/ network.(I don't care for the lighting, and the charater's characters aren't quite the same either). Too bad because that show could have gone on for two or three more years or more!! of well.
I hope everyone has a good night.
Chris and George

too early to blog

Well, I did it again, although George did try and wake me up a few hours ago to go with him to town, and I fell back asleep. However, it's not 3 am this time, but of ocurse, noon.
Travis and I are in this bad habbit of staying up for a few hours when I go and get him at 1:30--las night I stayed up till 4:30 watching Roseanne.
Yesterday, we all went to Rantoul for lunch, and took Travis to the Pawn shop for parts for his guitar. He needed one new tuner key--the little key at the top of the guitar head that holds the string. He also needed a new string and some picks. He also picked up a new cable so he could plug into an amp, although his dosent work at the moment. And after working on his guitar for an hour or so yesterday, he got it all put back together and can jam now. We play "name that tune" with mom, or "do you know this one??"--I am getting old because I usually don't. But he is excited about being able to play again, so that is a good thing I guess.
Well, George is moving something in the kitchen and got to go see what is going on in there. "Till next time--have a good one!!
Love Chris and George

too tired to blog..

It's like 3 am, and Travis woke me up an hour ago when he came home from work--thus this is my early morning "UP" time. George does not like me when I have my early morning up time because I end up sleeping the morning away--I take a nap on the couch and, well yesterday didn't wake up until after noon!! (oops, sorry).
Travis is doing well at his job--he's still got it!! I guess he is doing very good because last week they gave him a nice set of measuing tools in a nice case--just for him!! And yesterday, he came home with information on his insurance and other benifits. He seems to like it, although our friend and neighbor Rob Knell is getting switched to day shift, while Travis will stay on second shift--ggod thing I did not go and get a job yet, as I guess it's back to Mom's Cab service for me.
The other day George and I went shopping in Champaign and while we were at Best Buy--he was impressed with John and Betty's TV and was considering moving up to big flat screen HD TV--he brought a CD to my attention. Do you remember me telling you all about when we were up at the shipwreck museum, and I wanted to buy the Gordon Lightfoot CD, and he thought it was too expensive for a CD?? Well he found a Gordon Lightfoot CD with the Ed Fitz song on it for me there!! He thought that CD was reasonably priced and bought it for me. So I've been busy the past few days looking up stuff about the ED Fitz, as I want to try and make my own music video of the song--cool hey?? For example--did you know there is such a thing/place as the Maritime Sailors Catherdral--it's in Detroit, and they hold a special Ed Fitz memorial service every November!!
Well got to go for now. Sorry it's been awhile since I've posted--will try to do better. I've been bugging Rob all week but he hadn't heard anything, and was going to make a point of checking on it today for us, when the phone just rang and it was Alamo--the company he applied with. Trais answered the phone--he said good thing it wasn't me becasue I might not have answered it becasue it came up as an 800 number and I don't do those numbers--but he answered it and it was for him. They told him to come in to start work on Monday at 4:00, but be a little early to do some more paper work. I'm proud of him. If he does good and keeps this job he will be on his way to somewhat getting his life back in order. But at least now he has a chance, what he does with it reamins to be seen I guess.
Also on Friday, Travis and I are going to go and get all his probation paperwork transferred to Illinois from Indiana. It will cost him $75.00 and will take about 2 hours worth of paperwork. But then he will be all set over here.
Also, George finally got his big payday--no they did not cancel his check this time. And so this weekend we are going to garage sales looking for a bed for Travis. He also is mailing out some bills--credit cards that is. I didn't realize how much he was paying out in credit cards alone!! It will certainly be nice not to have those every month!
So that is all for now. We are going to take Travis and his friend Herrell to work today. (he is still working this job till next week). Until next time, take care.
Chris and Geroge

yellow light is for caution!!

I went and picked up Travis last night from work and we stayed up 'till almost 5 am watching a movie and talking. On the way home my cell phone rang--it was his woman friend--remember she isn't a girl--who has all his things. They talked for some time and Travis told me they have to figure out a time to go and get his stuff from her--probably in a few weeks on a Friday. So then I was watching an old episode of Gilmore Girls this morning and the phone rang again--it came across as not recognizing the number--annonomous--but I answered it anyway. It was some marketing company asking for Travis--and I had to drag it out of the girl on the other end for her to identify herself and what she wanted. I told her that Travis was sleeping and she said she would call back. Then a few minutes later the phone rang againg and it was an area code I recognized and it was his woman friend's son calling for Travis. (he just called back now). I told him also then that Travis was still sleeping to call back later.
I guess I didn't realize that I had to tell Travis not to give our phone number out and forgot to realize that he may have friends that would want to talk to him. So when he finally did get up I kind of told him not to give out our number--we really don't use our phones other than having them in an ememrgency and for like calling his Auntie Dawn and stuff. I guess we will have to go and get him his own phone--a pay as you go phone so then he can buy his own minutes. I didn't realize we would have issues about phone usage right off the bat!! Silly me.
Other than that we are fine and he is good--still working. George is keeping busy cleaning the kitchen and then going to see his friends in the afternoon. I am cleaning as rearranging the bedroom, as most of the stuff that came out of the other bedroom for Travis still needs to be put away in our room now--where are we going to put it all??? I will have to make room I guess.
That is all for now--if there are any new developments, we will let you know as soon as it happens!!
Until next time, take care and have a good one!
Chris and George

hi-ho, hi-ho, it's off to work he goes...

Well, we are into our first full week with Travis being with us and so far it's not been too bad. Travis is settling in and got a job right off the bat--he is working, for now anyhow, at Toll--where they package dog food. I know he really dosen't care for it and it is just temporary, but all we asked of his was to go and get a job--any job!!! (and so he did). Last week, Travis worked at Toll on Wed and Thurs, as they don't work on Friday, and I got a terrible cold, so George had to take him back and forth to work. Travis had to be there by 4 in the afternoon, and his shift ended at 2:30 am!! (poor George had to get up and go get him two days--but at least he got a job!!)
Then on Saturday, our friend Rob Knell, who works at M & W, where they make agricultural and farm equipment, got Travis an interview at their job fair.He called us on his luch break and I ran Travis overthere. I figured it would take awhile, and by then Rob was done for the day, and needed a ride home. While we were waiting on him, Rob said if he comes out with a bag full of papers and a box, then he got hired. Sure enough, we waited and waited on him--I think he was the last one out--he came out with papers and a box.(two girls and one guy came out with nothing--sorry, you lose!!). He is scheduled for a physical, including a drug test on Wednesday,(I anticipate no problem there) and then, hopfully, will start work for them next Monday!! I don't know who is more excited--Travis, me or Rob. Rob wants teach Travis how to weld and train him to do his work with him. I am excited because it will be a great opportunity for him to learn a skill/trade-- even if they just certify him to drive a forklift.
So things are looking up--right now anyway. (that could all change by tonight). I am pround of Travis. He got a job and is working. This morning we have to go and do laundry. I guess we will go and do that when he gets up. And once he gets a good permanet job, and we figure out his transportation needs, then it will be hi-ho hi-ho, it's off, back to work for me!! I can't wait!!
So that is all for now, until next time, take care!
Chris and George

Travis is home

I know this may be a shock to John and Betty, as I don't know if they knew about this (and if they didn't I do aplogize for that, but I thought maybe they would have heard if from our other sister Dawn), that my oldest son Travis made some bad decisions last year and for the past 9 months or so had been in the Newton county jail in Kentland Indiana. But this morning I got a phone call from him--he is out of jail and is, for today, at his dad's house. My other son Stephen (my good son) is going to take him to later this afternoon to go and find all his belongings, or as much as he can retrieve. And he is comming to live--once again--with George and I. From what I could tell on the telephone, he is anxious to be out and have another chance. All we expect of him right away is to find a job and keep it. But I think he is on the right path this time because I know he dosent want to be in jail for the rest of his life. I am excited about him comming here, although it will some what of a adjustment, but am looking forward to be "his mom" again. And once I get him going with a job, and then it is off to work for Christine--George still may not be ready to go back to work, but I sure am--I'm bored stiff!!! Can't wait to have something to do again!!
Well that is all for now, and will let you all know how it is going as soon as I can.
Again, I apologize to family memebrs who had no clue, but I did not want everyone to be upset or worried either. He is out now and I am glad he will be home tomorrow.
Until next time, take care and have a good day!!
Love, Chris and George

labor day post

Hello out there, yes we are still here. Sorry, did not mean not to be away for so long. George's $$$ from retirement finally came in and we are trying to figure out the best way to go, aside from paying off all the credit cards. We've had all this time to discuss and research and still we have no clue as to what we want to do or any closer of knowing than when he was first going to retire!!! it's an awful amount of $$$ and with him not being back to work I am scarred that we will go thruough it too quickly and fivourlissly (?)--you know what I mean. And he wants to finish fixing up that bathroom, and redo the kitchen, although I think they are just fine. I would prefer he put a BIG chunk of it into a CD for a year or so and if need be borrow against that. And he needs to think about getting back to work soon, as the snow wil be flying and the gas bill will be comming in soon too!! (gas bills don't pay themselves).
Anyway, we are looking forward to kind of a busy weekend, as our gang is planning on going to the Sweet Corn Festival Saturday night for the stock car races, and then Sunday, George wants to go to Indy to the Drag races--that's his thing. I don't know if I want to do either. For years, I been after him to take me to the big classic car show up in Auborn Indiana over the weekend, but he never does as he goes to Indy. I think also next year, I want to try and get a bunch of us to go and walk the bridge on Labor Day--that would be cool.
So we hope everyone has a great last weekend of summer, until next time, take care.
Love, Chris and George

untitled post..

this post has no title, since I don't have too much to say today.
I have not even got anything put away yet--does a few t-shirts count?? I know I am bad. My sister--who does not care for the president--I have to be careful what I put on here I guess--called me this morning while George and I were gone to lunch. She was just calling to say hi and to check on how my trip with Frannie went. i told here we had a great time and it is certainly good to be home, not having to go anywhere or do anything.
George had been sick while were gone, and today he is finally feeling alot better--he got up early this morning and changed the oil in the van and cleaned it out, and then trimmed the bush out front and cleaned off the porch!! Then he came in and took a shower and took me out for lunch, even though we just went grocery shopping yesterday. I don't know what we are going to do with the rest of the afternoon, but I have to go uptown and get a sympathy card as one of our friends passed away yesterday morning. Her name is Brenda and her and her husband Dave would come in on Friday nights with another couple--Ron and Barb--and roll dice--mostly every Friday night. She was just recently diagnosee with cancer and it came on really fast, she did not have a chance. she was a nice lady and a good friend--they all included George and I to a gambling trip to Peoria last year and I won $800 !!! We had a good time with them, and I know Joyce and Barb will miss her terribly. And poor Dave will certainly be lost without her, I can't imagine. So we passed the hat around the other day and I got nominated to go and get a card and we will send it with Tom tomorrow, as he is making all the food for the dinner tomorrow. (that's the least he could do). Thay are not having a visitiation, just a service and it will be in Champaign so i don't think we will make it. I guess it depends on if Frannie really wants to go or not, as Rob has to work.
So that is what is going on in our little corner of the world today--not too much.
So until next time, take care everyone, have a great day!!
Chris and George

now that I'm on a roll...

<img style="float:left; We got a room with an Island view--out the bathroom window, and next door to the ferry boats--their horns are really loud!! After checking in, we drove thru town and went to look at the bridge. There was a family there trying to take a family portrait with the bridge in the backgraound--the little ones were dressed in little sailor dresses and suits and the mom and dad in navy blue dress and suit--really cute. And there were like a million seagulls hanging around too. We went out for supper and came back and went to a pub down the street from our room. This obviously the happening spot because it was really crowded and loud and alot of younger people there--we didn't stay too long.
The next day we went to Mackinaw Island. We walked over to the ferry boats and got the next boat out right away. When we got there George asked me what the one thing I wanted to do and I wanted to go to the Grand Hotel. We took one of their carriages up the hill--arrive in style--and paid the $12.00 to tour the hotel. We spent a couple of hours there and went and had a drink up at the Coupola Bar which is on top of the Hotel--what a view!! Beautiful!! We walked around in the gardens and got to see a wedding party take off in their carriages!! After that we walked back down the hill and walked the main street--looking and shopping, although we did not buy any fudge. We walked the whole length of the street all the way to the other end to the Mission Point Resort, where the lane ended, turned around and walked back. Then we walked around the next steet up, and back to our boats. We had a great day on the Island!! When we got back to the "mailand", we went for pasties again--you can never get too many pasties!! and turned in early.
The next morning we were on our way home, crossed the bridge, and had breakfast in Mackinaw City. I had yummy fresh blueberry pancakes. We went and looked at the bridge one last time and were on the road home. We took the scenic route becasue I hate interstate traffic--it makes me very nervous, and I had not been the scenic route thru the lower peninsula in a very long time. Our first stop was supposed to be the sleeping bear dunes, but they did not put any signs along the road to let you know where to turn off to get to the dunes, So we drove over an hour out of our way for nothing, as we never found the dunes themselves. We did however, stop in Petosky (???) one of the little towns along lake Michigan--where they had a private train stopped and George got out and took pictures. They also had a nice "miniature" Grand Hotel type Hotel there--very nice. Anyway, we ended up that night down in souther lower penninsula for the night--George was tired of driving and just pulled into the first motel he found, which was a bit inland--he was too tired to try and find us a place on the lake front with a view--that would have been nice on our last night.
Then next day, in Indiana, we did manage to find the dunes there and climbed up and down to get to the beach!!
So we had a very nice vacation, although Stephen and Robyn bugged out on the first Saturday. And tomorrow I have to start to straighten up and get things put away.
So I promise to try and keep up with my blogging--although I might miss a day or two. Until next time, take care you all--
Love, Chris and George

Try to post pictures again...

I think I got it this time..

one piture is of me and my Aunt Viloa, one is of Grandma Kangas and Auntie Elise with Guy and Paul, and one is of them will all the great-granchildren out at the cottage.

Home again for good.

Well, Frannie and I got in about 7 p.m. last night from our bus trip, and we had a great time. Fran is one of my best friends here in Illinois, and is a little older than I am--60 something. I took her on this trip because George and I invite her to go with us all the time and she never can because she won't take off time from work. Well this time I arranged for us to go, as she is on vacation. I had a few ideas for trips for us to do, but this was the most economical, and not too long for her either. It cost us $135.00 per person and included our bus ride, and 2 nights at the casino's hotel, and we got $30.00 back to gamble with. The bus pulled in about 4 p.m. on Wednesday, and we were off. We hung around the casino that first night and went upstairs to the sports bar and had delicious tacos for supper. We had a little patio off of our room and stayed up half the night just visiting out on the patio. The next day we were supposed to go with the group to do a duck ride, but slept in and when we did get up and get going went off on our own. The casino provided a shuttle to the downtown of the Dells, and we did some shopping, and had these really good pizza burgers for supper there. We were going to do a boat tour of the dells, but it looked like it was going to rain so we decided not too. We did get oour picture taken at one of those old time photo places and when I get it scanned and figure out how to get it on here I will post it. When we got back to the casino, we went back down and Frannie won $675 on the quarter slot machine!!! So she had a great time.
George was getting a cold when we left and when we returned he still has a bad chest cold--alot of congestion and alot of coughing. His chest hurts so much from all the coughing and if he is not better by Monday I will tell him to go to the doctor, as he is very stubborn man.
So I am home for awhile now, and I have to get going on straightening up the house. Although we are not moving, we still have alot of things to be put away, and just general picking up and storeage of things. George never quite got back to his bathroom projust and I think I am going to put all the bathroom items back in the bathroom where they belong for now, that will help alot.
Oh, about the second part of our trip--after we got back on the road, we our first stop was Munising, as we wanted to see the pitcured rocks. We turned off on most of the little scenic turnoffs, and checked into a motel for the night. there was this one on the bay, but they were already full for the night. The next day we got to see 4 waterfalls, and Miners Castle part of the pictured rocks. We had a pasty lunch at the Bear Trap inn, and went on up to Taquamanin Falls State park. We hiked down 94 stairs to the platform, and 94 stairs back up to the parking lot--I was done for the day after that!!! And my thigh muscles are getting back into shape too!!!
We went on up to Whitefish Point, and saw the Shipwreck Museum--they don't tell you on the map that is where the road ends. We saw the Edmond Fitgerald Bell, and George thought $20 was too much for a Gordon Lightfoot CD with the song on it. That night we stayed in Paradise and had a room on the beach with a beautiful view. We got to see the sun set and we got up at 5 to watch the sun rise over lake Superior. Beautiful!!! (I will try those pictures here again in a minute).
Well I want you all to check back with me tomorrow, as I will post another favorite part of our trip tomorrow. (It's right up there with visiting with family and friends and the sun rise!!).
Until then, take care!!
Love, Chris and George

Home again for good.

Well, Frannie and I got in about 7 p.m. last night from our bus trip, and we had a great time.
Love, Chris and George

travel pictures if I can figure it out....

I am trying to post some pictures of our vacation to my blog site here, but I don't know what I am doing wrong, as they are not posting and I get a page when I go to download them saying "this page can't be displayed" ????
So if I don't or can't figure it out, i apologize in advance, they are real cool pictures...

This one is for Betty...

Hello all... We've made it back home safe and sound from our travels and visits to the U.P. We were gone for 14 days and got to see and do alot!! Really too much to mention, but the visits with my various family members were probably the best part of the trip. We got to visit with not only my sister (the sister who hates the President), and her side of the family, including Grandma Kangas, but also George and I attended Sunday worship services with John and Betty. I was pleasently surprised to learn that Pastor Lakko, the minister who married my first husband and me, and who also babtized my oldest son, is now "the head preacher dude" at my brothers church. If comforts me to know that my brothers congregation will be well taken care of and tended to. I wasn't too keen on the thought of having some complete stranger come in and take over John's parish just like that, although I would have had no say or choie in the matter anyway. It just makes me feel good for him and Betty.
After we visited with everyone, we headed east in the U.P. to see the Pictured Rocks in the town on Munising. We saw 4 waterfalls and climbed up to the vantage point of Miners Castle---what a view!!! The next day it was on to Taquamanon Falls and Paradise Michigan where I made it down and BACK UP the 94 stairs to the see the lower falls. Yikes!!! George didn't let me sit that one out. and we got a room on the beach in Paradise and got up before 5 am to watch the sun rise over lake superior!! (if I have to get up to take pictures, then come on and get up too!! We didn't pay $80.00 just for the room !!). Yes, we were both rewarded with a most spectacular sunrise we have ever seen!!!
Well that is all for now, i know I'm not finished with all about our travels, and i apologize in advance that the next blog won't be for a few days as my friend Franny and I leave tomorrow on a tour bus trip to Wisconsin Dells and the Ho Chunk Casino. but we will be back home Friday night and I will post another entry probably on Saturday or Sunday--as soon as I can!!
Until then, take it easy, and take care!!
Love Chris and George

Time's Up

Well I know I haven't posted in awhile, but I am just letting everyone know that Stephen leaves on Friday for the middle east for a 90 day deployment. And I don't know if he's just telling me just to make me feel better but he tells me he is going to the "resort base" of the dessert to do his work, and wn\on't be anywhere near any hot spots. (????) I said yes, ok, but they are bombing the roads, aren't they??? he said no, not where he is going, which he never did tell me where exactly.
So anyway, we are having a family dinner for him on Thursday night at the Ruby Tuesday in kankakee. Robyn and her family, Steve and Marie and her son, and her daughter Amy and her hsuband and George and I. Hopefully it will be a nice get together for him. (Marie dosen't play well with others--that's because no one likes her!!) ha ha ha. I wish Dawna and Paul could fly down for the day to be with us also. That would be sweet.
So just letting you all know what's up with Stephen. Oh, and he says when he gets back he and Robyn are planning a week or so vacation in the U.P. and going to go and visit everyone sometime this summer. (I can't go--remember I already used my vacatin time to go to las vegas??)
Other than that George is fighting the university's political machine at work, as he is on an official "paid time out" from work and had been for the last few weeks. He and this stupid lady that works with him in his office don't play well with each other either and --as far as he knows--he is on paid administative leave for the time being. But I think his administatinve hearing is on Thurday or Friday and hopefully something will be resolved once and for all between the two of them. (Like maureen will get to go home permanately with no time left for good behavior)
WEll we'll see--I am anxious to see how the 'administrative powers" handle it this time. ---will let you know.
Other than that, we will shoot video and pictures of Stephens dinner for everyone--I know, I know, I haven't burned any of my cool vegas video yet--yes we have tried to burn everyone a disc we can't get our pc's to burn a acopy of a disc--it's in the computer but it won't see the disc to burn it--we are still working on it, don't give up, George will figure it out--then we will send discs to everyone.
Oh by the way, did everyone catch the final episode of 7th Heavan on Monday night??
No, Simon and Rose did not get married, but all the other older sibling and spouses announced they were all expecting and expecting twins!! I wish they would keep that show on but I realize it does get more expensive as everyone gets older also. Tonight it's the final episode of Gilmore Girls and I think Lorilie and Luke split up for good and she turns to Christopher for comfort--yes she needs to be with Christopher for Rory's sake anyway--I guess Emily Gilmore will get her way in the end anyhow. WE'll see next season.
So until next time, --probably Friday--take care and we'll be back soon.
Love, chris and george

Vegas Pictures

Here are some of the pictures I took of our trip. Although Stephen is not the travel partner I am used to with George (he spoils me rotten on vacations), we still had a great time!! (Stephen was whinning about buying me a drink in a souviner glass--$10.00 for the glass with the drink in it!!). He is also not the "gawker"--or tourist that George and I are either--he was complaining about me stopping too much to take pictures and to film some video!!("hurry up mom!!") Yes I got some great shots of the outsides of the casinos along the strip, but haven't downloaded them yet. And I also got a great video of the fountains at Ballagio--after three takes we got a real good one--so I will have George burn some dvd's for everyone and get them out to you all ASAP. (next month??) So as soon as I get the pictures downloaded and then transferred from the laptop to my pc, I will post some of them here for you all to see!!
Oh yes, so here we got in late Monday night, and I'm thinking cool, I don't have to be back to work until like tonight (Wed.) at midnight, but no--I had to work last night 4 to midnight and found this out yesterday when I went in to get my check from last week--uugghh, so George and I went out for lunch real quick and I come back home and took a quick nap before I had to go work at 4:00 yesterday!!! (it was so hard!!).
Well just letting everyone know we're home and I'm back to work and Stephen is back to school!!! Take care.
Love Chris and Stephen

going to Vegas anyone??

Well it is like 11:30 at night the night before we leave for Vegas and Stephen and I just got in from being uptown for awhile. Although we didn't get the great send off I would have liked (there was a big karaoke crowd up at the other place), we had a nice time with the people that were there and Stephen got to meet some of my friends and customers from the store--one even bought him a beer!! Of course, Frannie came in a little late as she had to work tonight, but I was so happy to have gotten to see her before we took off, and I'm glad she did not miss us.Although she likes both my sons, Stephen just tickels here to death!!
Stephen is excited, and I am nervous, but will be better once we finally touch down in Nevada. You know the Disney commercial where the kids are "too excited to sleep"--that is how I am now, and it's not even midnight yet. Since he has to drive us to the airport, and then drive home alone, George was in bed at a reasonable hour tonite--like 8:30 or so--way before Stephen even got here!!! But he set the alarm for 3 am so he can get a shower and clean out my car befoer we leave. Well, here are some words from Stephen--"Not sure if the majority of my time in Vegas will be spent winning, or losing, but I do know that it will be time well spent." Short but sweet, I guess.
Well he is off to the shower and I am winding down (?) finally, thinking about going to bed, not necessairly sleeping, although 3 am will come awfully early, even for me!!
I hope I read John's last post correctly, and am assuming that he and Dawn and speaking againg, because I would hate it to go away and wonder all that time if they were still arguing or not ???
Well, I got to go, maybe I will get a post in or two while we are out there, maybe even some pics, I will try. hae a good week all, and take care!!
Love, Chris and Stephen

No, I just don't post on birthdays!!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY STEPHEN!! Stephen Todd Summers, the last grandchild of Arivid and Edith Linna (on his mother's side) comes of age today. He was born at KI Sawyer AFB Hospital at 9:50 am this morning and weighed in at almost 10 lbs!!
I can't believe that it has been 21 years since he was born. He is a good son, taking classes at kankakee community college full time and working part time at the local wal-mart on the weekends. He has joined the Air Force Nat'l. Gurard to pay for school, and his unit is stationed out of Springfield Illinois. I saw him last weekend on his way back thru, and he informed me that unfortrnalety his time too has come for his duty overseas, as he will be sent to the middle east for 90 days this July or August. To celebarate, he and I will be going to las vegas for a week on Sunday--just the two of us. I can't wait, as well will have a great time!
Well, got to go and get ready for work.
Love, your mother,
Chrisitne

we are here, we are here, we are here!!

Wow, I apologize that it's been almost, well no actually over a month since my last post, but it's hard to get on the computer and post from work. I am just finishing up my last few days before Stephen and I leave for Vegas on Sunday morming. Speaking of Stephen it is his 21st birthday today. I worked until midnight last night and when I finally got home from work, I tried calling him to leave him a "Happy Birthday" message on his cell phone, but it rang twice and he picked up!! I asked himn what he was doing up so late, as it was going on 1 am, and he said geting ready to go to bed here shortly--I said good, that I was just calling to wish him a happy birthday, and told him he wasn't quite born yet, not 'till 9:50 am this morning. He said oh, well he will not be born yet then and he is going to bed. I said good, good night and see you on Saturday. He is supposed to work until 8 pm on Saturday at WalMart, but he thinks he will skip out of there a little early, as Steve wants to take him out for a beer or two before he drives here to spend the night, as we have to be at the airport on Sunday morning at 6 am!!!yuck--we will sleep in the car and on the plane I guess. Other than that I am more than ready to go. All I have to do is do laundry and pack. I have on big bag and one carry-on bag, and the camera bag and the computer bag, and then Stephen has like 4 bags, as I got him new luggage for Christmas. Hopefully, we won't have too many bags. hahaha!!
I hope John is feeling better, although Dawn said you were still having trouble getting around some. Maybe I will be able to post a few times from Vegas, as we are taking the laptop, as Stephen wants to try to work on his term papaer that is due the day we get back.--yeah, right.
Well, got to go and get rady for work--I've been working so much I haven't had a shower in 2 days--too cold-- so I want to try and get one this afternoon before I go in today.
Until then, I hope eveyone is heathly and happy. We will "see " you all when we get back.
Love, Chris and George and Stephen

busy, busy, busy...

Hi all
Just a quick post before I go to bed for the day, although I don't know how much rest I will get. First and foremost, IT'S GEORGE'S BIRTHDAY!!! HAPPY HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO GEORGE!! (we won't mention how old--or should I say young--he is!) The only plans we've made so far is he wants to go for Chineese Buffet for lunch. (he took the day off for his birthday--wish we all could!!, hey??) but he has a list of errenads and tasks he has to complete while I get some rest--hopefully he will get it done!
Last night I got a phone call from Stephen. As you may or may not know, he has been helping coach his high school's boys basketball team, and they're in the tournaments which are being played here in our town. He called and asked what I was doing last night, and although I didn't get his call right away, I had to work the day shift yesterday for Angie becasue she was sick and I want boo-coo bucks for a pay check. Anyway, I was really tired when I finally got to talk to him and he told me that they were playing a game here last night--I really wanted to go, but I was ssoo tired. But he told me if they won they would be playing agin here tonight. Well I called him back before I went back to work at midnight, and YEAH!!they won and so I'll get to watch him coach tonight--I'm so excited. Don't worry, we are going to try out our new digital camcorder we got for Christmas--JVC Hard Disk Camcorder--it's cool. Hopefully, we will be able to burn you people some dvd's of the game, so you can also catch all the action for yourselves. Will keep you posted.!
Well, got to go to bed, I'm tired and my wrist is hurting from the typing--until next time take care.
Chris and Happy Birthday Boy George

rerserved and ready...

Last night I was again checking on airfares from peoria to Las Vegas, and of course, they went up from $99 to $144 each way. I was getting nervous and called Stephen to see if he had the money now to go ahead and get his ticket, as I had enough for mine, but not both of ours (my calculations on my last credit card statement was off by $100 or so and I was a little short). I did not want to wait another few weeks for me to send in the rest of the money on the card, wait for it to be posted to my account, and then order our tickets, as the prices would have probably gone up to over $200!! (the fares for the week in between when we wil be ther are already over $200 each way!!). As I was checking all this out, and ordering my tickets, George pulled out one of many of his cards and told me just to order Stephen's ticket also, as it was getting too complicated to see how I was going to swing both tickets. I am very lucky to be with such a generous kind man, as he spoils me rotten and then some--did I mention he got me a new digital camcorder for Christmas?? (of course I will pay him back the $300 total for Stephen's ticket in a few weeks). Then I went online and reserved our room. I got a good deal at the Barabary Coast Hotel, which is right on the stip across from Cesars palace and the Bellagio foutains. (I had enough on my card for that, as they only charge for one night's rate to hold the room).
Needless to say we are all reserved and ready to go!!
And yes, our tree is still up!! (boo--I know) and I have laundry to do again--it will get done next week sometime. ha ha!!
Other than that, we are just here in central Illinois waiting for spring to sprung, although it did try to snow yesterday for awhile, but it all blew away by time the sun went down. I just want it to warm up some and not be so cold when I have to go out and go to work at midnight, you know??
We hope everyone is doing well, and looking forward to Super Bowl Sunday, as we got invited to a party. I asked for the day off, and think we will go for awhile, but since George has a dr's. appt. the next morning, he won't do much drinking--just be the DD. I did kind of invite Travis and Chris down for the party, but I need Stephen to give them a ride here, as I am not going to get them and also bring them back--that's alot of miles and wear and tear on my car--we'll see, I guess. Last time I spoke with Travis I mentioned to him that I had tried to get him a job here painting with one of the a.m. coffee guys painting company--but he dosen't want to move back here, or leave Chris either I guess. That's ok--he can just stay ther in his pitiful little extistance with her. (long story--don't ask!!). I just wish he would do something!!! Oh well.
So until next time, take care and have a good day!!
George and Chris

is it spring or is it snow??

Hello all! Yes our tree is still up and I think we will keep it up all year and decorate it for all holidays accordingly--Valentines Day, Easter, St. Pat's Day, 4th of July, Thanksgiving, and back to Christmas!!! Cool hey?? Of course, we won't be eating at the dinig room table again, as it is pushed in the corner.
We just got back from eating lunch at a new place uptown--Tin Pan. George had a homemade burger, and I had the grilled pork tenderloin sandwich. Both came with homemade cut fries. It was really good. I think we will eat there again.
I just got done reading Pete's blog, and am sorry to hear that John and Betty will wait until next fall to move, which I think is for the better, as I just heard the other day on the radio that you should be preparing for the move at least TWO MONTHS prior to the actual move--and it gives them more time to go thru their belongings to see what goes and what dosen't--anything they don't want or need let us know, as we may want it, although we have no clue as to where it is going to go.
George's back is doing better and he actually made it to work all week!!! And although his boss asked him to go and clean lab hoods again, he really didn't refuse, but reminded his supervisor that if his back were to pop back out while he was doing that, it would be a workman's comp claim--he is going to get back to George on that and see what the solution is--but he is just happy just to have him back to work, that I don't think it's too much of an issue.
Leigh Ann hired another person to work at the store--yeah!!! With vacations comming up(Stephen and I are going to Vegas in April for his 21st B-day.), and leigh ann wanting to go to Tenn. again next month, and Kristina--asst. mgr.--having a baby in May, we need another person to help out. It certainly takes the pressure off of me a little as I was always the one to go to fill in as I only live up the block from the store.(I have to learn not to answer the phone). But wtih this trip comming up, I like the extra money also).
I am getting excited about our trip, and am starting to plan out some things I would like to do--like maybe taking a day or two, and going to the Grand Canyon, and although I don't want to go and see Wayne Newton, I do want to go and see Barry Manilow!!! (Stephen dosen't have to go to that). We are flying out of Peroia for $99 on the 8th and flying back for $139 on the 17th--so what I am saving on airline tickets, I am spending more for a hotel room for so long, including two weekends!! (ouch!!). But I got it covered, and am saving and paying off my credit cards to do this--I haven't gone out for almost two weeks. But I am off tonight and George is taking Sherrill and I out--but not too late, as I have to work tomorrow 4 to midnite.
Well that's all for this post, George wants to know what is so interesting that I am writing a book. Until next time, take care!
Love, Chris and George

insomnia

Hello there:
Wow, posting again so soon?? Actually,I'm supposed to be sleeping, but as George was quietly sneaking out to go to the Doctor, I was just falling asleep and the phone rang--it was work, my boss asking me a question about something, and now I can't even think of what it was she wanted--and of course, I can't get back to sleep either!!
George is on his way to the doctor, and I was on my way to a good sleep, so that is why I did not go with him, although I really wanted to. I am really tired though. I hope he gets things figured out with the doctor and she can tell him something and get him going on some therpy, as I believe an operation is not optinal, that is I don't think George would agree to them "operating" on his lower back--i think he would live with the pain the rest of his life first. We'll see. Anyway, after his appointment, he has to check in with his boss at work. I guess they e-mailed him at his work e-mail, and sent thim the information for him to go and make this back episode a workman's comp claim--or at least try to apply for workman's comp, as I don't know how far he will get with a claim, although he was still under a doctors care for his back, and strained it again at work while he was cleaning some chemical hoods in one of the labs--he had to reach up and around while on his hands and knees--talk about twisty turvy!! We'll see on that also.
so yesterday, the only thing I saw remotly possible if push came to shove--and worst case senerio us selling the house thing--was an old storefront with 2 bedroom apt. upstairs for sale in Negaunee for like 30 to 40 thousand--remember, we have to make money on selling this house. (I'm thinking a Packer bar). George thinks they may already have enough packer bars in Negaunee and Ishpeming, and they probably do.
Well, I will post again tonight or tomorrow morning with his results and what the doctor recommends. Until then, take care.
chris

just a quick post

Hello all:
Well, yes our Christmas tree is still up--we should have a contest who leaves the tree up the longest.
George and I are just sitting here going thru real estate listings locally and in Michigan--if I had a choice, I would vote for Michigan or at least more northern country. I don't know if he is serious, but he may be, as he is still out with his back (is his work days over??) and although he (correction--WE) go back to the doctor tomorrow, he is still not any better. He can lay in bed and feels fine, and actually pops it back into place, and then he will sneeze, or turn the wrong way and pop it out of place. I hope they can tell us more tomorrow. And I am getting concerned about the medication he is on--he is still sleeping the days away!! (Ihope it is not addictive).
If not, George is worried that he may be taking "early retirement"--that is, either being on a restricted work schedule, and very light duty for the next four years, or just giving up, quitting his job, and cashing in the life insurance poicy and paying off the house and all the bills, selling the house and look for something cheaper (we would have to make money on the deal--don't worry John, we couldn't afford your house!). It could be done, but I would be worried that although he may be able to draw disability, we would still need more of an income, and then we would need to consider what type of business, or work is available and where. Don't be alarmed--we are just thinking about it and we do have to go thru all the medical and work "red-tape procedures" and then see what his options are. It would be hard for him to quit with only four years to go, and I hope they can keep him on being on "extreme light duty" for the next four years, but he dosen't know.
We will post again in a few days when and if we find anything out.
Until then have a great day all!!
George and Chris

Yes, we are still here!!

Hey everyone!! We are still here--well and alive and snowless in Central Illinois. Actually the temperature has been in the low 40's for the past few days and has melted all the snow. On the other hand it is also very moist in the air and very dark and foggy in the mornings.
We had a quite Christmas, just George and I here, as I had to work on Christmas eve--worse than the 4th of July as fas as customers go.(I worked from 4 to midnite and did $1200.00 in sales!!) And then on Christmas day I worked from 2-7, which wasn't too bad, but had to get all my work done that I didn't get done the previous night becasue of all the people comming in--we sold out of all our batteries!!!
Last week, while George was fixing the the plumbing underneath the sink in the bathroom, and he wrenched his back bad. (wasn't he supposed to go back to work here like a wekk or two ago??) So bad that he went to the doctor and has tests done and x-rays taken. And because of the holidays, he won't the results undtil after new Years--next week sometime. So until then--you guessed it--he is off work again with a docor's excuse until he goes back to the doctor. I don't know that I like the prescription he got--one pill is an anti-anxiety drug used in his case as a muscle relaxer, and the other is an anti-inflamitory medication for arthritic pain. yes, he says they're working, but they also make him sleep day and night!! CAse in point--he missed most of "our" Christmas because he was in pain and sleeping--last Thursday evening we were supposed to go down the street and visit with the Knells, and DJ, and watch Dj and Chelsea open gifts before they left--chelsea to her mom's and dj went to ohio with his grandparents for the weekend. Well George missed it, as he was sleeping. Then on Friday, the boys--Travis and Stephen and Robyn came and spent the day with me--he was sleeping!! We were supposed to go out for lunch, do some shopping and they were going to take me to see "Kong", but I got sick that morning--George did manage to give me his cold--so they came and just opened gifts, and we went to lunch and they went to the new super walmart in Champaign--I waited and rested in the car. George gave them each a $150 walmart gift card--which I thought was too much and scolded him for doing so, but that is what he wanted them to have!! I did invite Chris but she declined the invitaion, preferring that I enjoy it with my two sons (and Robyn), and although I was dissapointed, sent her gifts home with Travis.
So all in al it has been a rough week-with me working and catching acold, and george with his aching back and all. We look forward to a Happy and Healthy New year and wish the same to you all!!
Chris and George

here's a new post...

Hello all!! Well I made it thru another week working Nancy's shift while she was on vacation, although she already has another night off tonight and I'll be there againtonight at midnight. Rob's girlfriend Sherrill and I got to do some Christmas shopping Tuesday and I got alot done. i got all of Travis and Chris, and also Stephen and Robyn pretty much done. And although Chris and Robyn are not "teenagers" it was fun shopping for "girls" for a change--alot easier then boys and/or guys in general. I got them each a "hoodie", and a flannel p.j. set, some bubble bath--one for each day of the week, a sterling sliver locket, and some cool "fuzzy fur" socks. I got Travis and Stephen the ususal colognes and t-shirts. I also got Travis a cool book on guitars. When we went shopping, we had been to alot of stores, and when we came out of Wal-mart, we couldn't remember where we parked the car--it was funny, because people must have thought we were crazy or something, but neither one of could remember!! But we finally found it after wolking half way thru the parking lot in the wrong direction!! (of course).
George has been home for most of the week with this stomach thing that has been going around, but I think he will go to work tomorrow (??)--we'll see. We got the lights on the tree finally and the train up and around it, and it looks nice just the way it is without all the decorations on it. When, or if we finish it, we will take a movie so you all can see it--gifts under it and all. I just got done with wrapping of presents part I, and still have a long way to go. The dining room loooks like a war zone with paper and boxes everywhere and George wants to know how I stay so "dis-organized" in there. But I know where everything is and what gifts go to who so he better stay out--at least while I'm home. (he already found one gift of his--I'm not taking that chance again and the things I got for him the other day I sent home with Sherrill to her house--let hime find them there!!) HA!!
Well, just taking a break from wrapping, and letting you know we are still here.
Until next time--take care.
George and Chris

Let it snow, let it snow

Hi all:
Just posting while we are surfing, George found a website informing him of a national model railroad show in Detroit in 2007. (www.NMRA.org)
Our weather forcast is calling for snow thru tonight and the scanner is busy with people in the ditch (Car 54, where are you??). There was a wreck south of here on I-57, and a van overturned over on Rte. 115.(they are out of the veichle and walking down the road). and there was a pickup in a cornfield earlier. There is a call now about a wreck but they are discussing if they are on our side of the county line or Irquois County line and whose available. Good nite for scanner action. And then, I can go to work tomorrow and question the cops when they come in for coffee about their night. (they are busy, busy tonight, no doubt). We like to listen and see if they stop anyone we know.
I got to work day shift today--oops, he is going to Colonial Pantry a minute--must be going for coffee, as I believe Officer Yates is working tonight. and I work the day shift tomorrow as well UUgh!!! I told leigh Ann I am not a morning person, but today wasn't that bad, as I got all my work done and got to come home early. (surprised George, he was working in the dining room, and when I got home, he quit).
then I am off all day Monday, as I will work the midnight shift, and work it for the rest of the week as Nancy goes on vacation. (is it Sunday yet??).
Well, the scanner has quieted down for the moment, and I don't know if they ever figured out which side of the county line that last call was on.
Well that's about all for now. When we having breaking news, I will post again. Although, it really may not be for a week given my schedule for the next week--at least George is gone during the day and I can sleep good then.
Until next time--take care and keep it on the road, not in the cornfield.
Chris and George

wow, posting again so soon??

Well, I got an e-mail from John about the packages he and Betty brought us from Dawn--I will look at them and let him know asap, and probably (???) be mailing them back to them??? I had today off and tomorrow, so I will probably get it done then--when George goes to work.
Speaking of George, he stayed home with me today, and we went to the IGA and got some groceries and I had to go to the bank, and he went to the post office and mailed some bills. Before we could go anywhere though, George shoveled and warmed up the van for me. When he went to clear off my car and warm it up, I told him not to, because it is the season--he donsen't need to look in my car at the moment--surprises in there and all. He is wondering what I could have for him in the car--he will just have to wait. Then we came home and I started to clean the kitchen and made Baronii's for lunch. We were supposed to have another infamous meeting at work, but since 2 of our people had appointments this afternoon, the meeting got cancelled--postponed for another time. So we took a nap in the afternoon. Boy I hope we aren't this boring when he retires.
Hopefully, George will go to work tomorrow, and I can get in the dining room and start putting things away, and dusting and start getting it ready for the Christmas tree. (Such a chore).
We went to Wal Mart on Monday and George bought another DVD recorder/player. So I plan on giving our old DVD player to Frannie for Christmas, when George finds the correct cords, and the manual and the remote for it. I know she has a vcr, but I don' tknow that she watches that many movies. Maybe when she has this dvd player, she will watch more then. And of course, George will have to hook it up for her and show her how to use it.
Speaking of Frannie, although I haven't seen her since we left for Green Bay, I guess she has been really sick, and Sherrill took her to the Doctor today, as they thought she may have had pneumonia, but it was just bronchitis. That was good to hear. Sherrill said she's on antibiotics and a steriod for now. I want to go and see her, but I don't want to get sick either, and she dosen't have a phone. So I will wait and see her next week. I hope she feels better soon. I am glad we are such good friends with our neighbors and we all get along and help each other out all the time.
Well that is all for now. Made it back safe and sound from our visit with Pete and his family and John and Betty, and Pennie. I'm sorry we missed Pat and his boys, but maybe we'll see him next time. We had a great time and enjoyed a good meal--Lori did a wonderful job preparing our little "feast". On Friday we got a late start on our shopping--what a nightmare. First we realized, you have to get INTO the parking lot from the street. then we had to wait and follow people who were leaving the store to snag their parking spot. Once we made it in the store, we stole some lady's cart out from under her--oops, sorry. But you know, it's dog eat dog when it comes to competitive Christmas shopping!!! Every man for himself and all...
Later that evening, we enjoyed some down time at the "Titletown Brewing Company" which is located downtown on the river, as George likes his old depots and all. then we got lost trying to find the Ondia Casino out by the airport. Yes, we stopped and George made me go in and ask for directions.(I guess it's still a guy thing.) While George enjoyed the bar, I lost some money playing the slots (25 cents Triple dimonds and then Monopoly Money). After I lost that money, I lost $50.00 worth of chips at the roulette wheel. Oh, well, the difference between last time in Wisc Dells and this time in Green Bay was I DID NOT EXPECT TO WIN !!! and I didn't so I was not disappointed either.
After taking the family out for breakfast on Saturday, it was on to Chricago, and the Hilton on Michigan Avenue--very posh. We took the shuttle up to North Michigan Avenue where we waited in 4 different lines at the John Hancock Building --2 lines for the observatory and then 2 lines for the lounge on the 96th floor. Boy, but what a view-and by then the sun had went down and all the city was lit up--beautiful!! (We also kept watch for any airplanes headed our way.) That eveing we relaxed in the lobby lounge and George went back to the room early, while I stayed for one more and then went up to bed also. (the beds were heavenly--we both rested well that night!!!)
The next morning after helping ourselves to the Executive floor continental breakfast buffet--assorment of breads, cofee, tea, milk, juices, cereal, etc., we checked out and put our luggage back in the car--then we walked--up to marshall Fields where we took in the windows on State Street. This years theme was Cinderella. Very nice. We also went inside and took in the Christmas Tree in the Walnut Room. Very, very nice. And then I bought some chocolates for my co-workers to take back home. I had one more errand to do while we were there and that was to purchase our Santa Train Tickets for the Metra train in December--some of my friends like to go on it--so we walked back over to Randolph Street Station and watched the ice skaters at the Millineum Park and got the tickets. then we hoofed it back to the parking garage and headed home.
Needless to say we had a very enjoyable relaxing weekend and got to see and do most of what we wanted. Until next time (it may be a month from now...) Take care...
George and Christine

feeling better

So here it is about 24 hours later, and yes, after not working, and getting alot of rest, and not eating and drinking only 7-up, I feel much better. I did make it to work, and on time. (not early, although George came to wake me up and let me know I was running late at 10 am--he thought it was 11!!) So I went to work and drank more 7-up, and then early this evening--I worked the 11 to 7 shift--I had a hankerin' for some chocolate, so I got a big recee's peanut butter cup, which did not bother my stomach at all.
Actually, George just went to bed because he broke his computer. he just explained it, but it's broke alright--aahh, so sad, no trains tonight!! (he dosen't understand it--it was just working a few hours ago--???) I don't know. So he quit trying to restart and reboot it, gave up and went to bed. This is my night to stay up late, as I work Nancy's midnight shift tomorrow night--12 to 7 am. I work that for 3 days, then I'm off Thursday--get off at 7 am, then also off on Friday. I left the girl who filled in for me--Casey a note at work thanking her profusely for taking my spot when I did not feel good. She is a good worker, bit of a drama queen, but a good worker. I wish Leigh Ann--our boss--would give her more hours and cut this other girl--Chassidy--hours. She is not too enthused about work. She was supposed to re-stock the cooler tonight, per Leigh Ann's request--and she did not get it all done, and she came out and had to warm up. But she did not stock beer, or even push the old beer up to the front of the cooler--none of it!! So I just left everyone, that is Leigh Ann and Kristina, our asst. mgr, a note about it. I'm sorry--I don't like the girl. Oh well, that is work. I did, however get to straighten up the back room, and I do think it looks pretty good--that is most things are put in the correct places.
Well, my wrist is getting tired, maybe there is something good on t.v., as now I have to sit up and watch it by myself. Until next time..
Love Chris

sick on a saturday night

here I am at home posting a blog, as I am supposed to be at work. As I said in yesterday's post, we went out for lunch yesterday, and I did not feel good all last night, and although I did get up and go do laundry, did not feel good yet this afternoon. So, since we have to give at least 4 hours notice, I called in at about 11:30 this morning and told them i was not feeling well, that I don't think that I could make it to work for 4 pm. (I was supposed to work from 4 to 12 midnight). She said she will try to get ahold of the other two girls that were off today--who don't even get close to 40 hours--and get back to me. Well, I tried to lay down, but couldn't becasue that bothered me that whenever they need someone, I'm always the one to go in, and this is the first time since I've been there and calling in--quite early at that also--was very upset. I told her that I really do not feel good, that and that I need to rest, and no, if you fire me, I still will not be there for 4:00!!
She called me back 20 minutes later, and said no, i wasn't in trouble--i was just falling asleep--and was just wondering if I would be in on Sunday. i said yes, hopefully i will be feeling better by then. yes, probably. So then I went back to sleep. I told George to wake me up at 4:30 because Monster Jam was on this afternoon, and I ususally don't get to watch it. Well I woke up at 4:40, and he was lucky because the Bush truck series was running late, so i did not miss Rob Knell--who was actually racing in this episode. But we went out on the first heat, against the boss, Tom Meents. It's not good to beat the Boss is it. George wants to know what kind of book I am writing over here.
So I am home for the night--oh, our "King of the Hill" party in the alley went alright--it was DJ, us, Rob and his girlfriend, and Brad and Helen (who invited them??) But I was still not feeling good, and was back in the house and in bed by 11:00. We'll have to wait till spring to do it again I think. Maybe we'll have a better turn out then.
Well that is all for now. don't know what I want to do, as I kinda sleeped out, but my tummy is still kind of quivering. maybe I will go and see if there is a good horror movie on tonight.
Until next time--you all be good.
Chris and George

our gang

Well I am find ing a few minutes here to post, as George and I are going to be joining our new neighbor kid, DJ, and our other new neighbor monstor truck driver, mr. Rob knell, for a "King of the Hill" alley party for D.J.(long story). He was just out rearranging the junk by his back step, hauling away some garbage, etc., and rob brought over a burning barrel, and we have the wood. There will be about 6 of us all partying in the alley. We'll see for how long--even with a fire, it is getting chilly outside, and then we will see if anyone will call the cops on us--they shouldn't--I don't expect to be too loud. I think I will drink pop becuase mys tomach is upset, as we went to Chamapaign today and went out for lunch and I ate it all (usually I get a doggie bag), and my stomach is still upset. 7-Up does sound good. That's what we're up to tonight.
We are excited about going to Green Bay for Thanksgiving and seeing everyone, although we will miss Pat and his boys, as he has to work. (so sad). I am just looking forward to getting away for a few days.
Well until next time, take care, see you soon.
Chris and George

decision made..

Well, I was rudely awaken this morning by my phone ringing in my ear. It was the car dealer guy. I miised his call, so when I woke up, called him back and apologized and iformed him I was not going to take the car, that I did not want to go inot debt at this time. Then I called the bank, and although I was pleasently surprised to get a loan thru them, that I was not going to take out the loan after all, that I dicided on just saving my money. Then, after I ate a bit of lunch, went over to Frannie's and gave her the bad news, and she was not at all surprised, nor too heart broken. I offered to take her car shopping tomorrow, so I guess that is what we'll do tomorrow. Her cousin Norma and her husband run a used car lot and some other people we know in town here go to them for theie vehicles and are satisfied with their cars so we will start there. Will keep you posted.
I also got to talk to Stephen a minute ago. He was on his was to lab. Although he hasn't gone to check in on Travis (they got their phone turned off) he did ask me about the Vegas trip. He was wondering if he had a buddy tag along, if they could join us. I told him yes, but, of course, they would have to pay their own way. (mostly their airplane ticket, and any gambling money). He said he will get back to me on that. (wonder who it is, as Robyn is not 21 yet).
George had pt this morning and said when he got home his knee cap is hurting. woner why?? He just left for work, as he is stopping for lunch on his way.
Last night we downloaded video from the camcorder onto the hard drive of the Yoopers concert when we were on vacation. Then he put a copy of it in another forlder for safe keeping. I am also self tutoring myself on how to make videos using this new program he installed and not sure on how to begin--titles with effects, then ading the main video, or what. I guess I will just have to play around with it and learn as I go. As far as it being a business, our neighbor kid, DJ, wants to know how much I would charge to transfer his vhs tapes to dvd, and I said I would get back to him when I mastered the technique. (alot of the time is recording or downloading of the video to the hard drive--George says how much is that time worth to me??--don't know, we'll see).
Well that is all for now, have to work the midnight shift tonight, so I will be heading back to bed here about 4 or 5. It's nice sleeping time with George gone to work. I get up to get ready for work anywhere from 9:30 to 10:30 so I should be up when he gets home at 10:40. We have about an hour together before I have to go. (and then he sleeps good all night without me).
Hope you all read your e-mails. Until next time, take care..
Chris

decisions, decisions

Have been trying to rack my brain on deciding on whether or not to go ahead and get this new car I've been looking at for a few weeks now. It's the little ford escort zx2--little sproty model (smaller than my grand prix), with a 5 speed trans, and as George says, "not quite as plush interior", but o.k. by my standards. I like it alot, but am torn between on taking on another car loan, and being in debt again, and also we have some things comming up--like the hollidays and my birthday, and also, I was planning on taking Stephen to Vegas for his 21st birthday. (now how fun will that be for a young guy, hey??) I've started really saving money again, as my bank account is almost back to where it was a few months ago, and I like to have "free" money available whenever I need some, for whatever reason. Also, getting the car would also mean that I would be stuck in my job for at least another year or so, and I'm not sure I like the idea of that. (there is no compromise there, like part time hours there, it's full time or no time--including working almost every weekend). In fact, and get this, I'm so muddled by my decision, I even called my sister Dawn and asked her opinion. Aside from offering me an intrest free loan, she had no comment to make. Too bad. I guess I am really concerned about making my friend Frannie really mad at me because I would be backing out of the "deal", as I promised my car to her, and don't want to piss her off. (sorry, couldn't think of any other way to say it). So I will muddle thru it some how, and if so be it, get some courage and just let Frannie down. But I could offer to take her car shopping, if she would like to go, I guess. (right now her car dosen't even make it back and forth to work).
But one thing we HAVE decided on is that we are definately comming to Green bay for Thanksgiving, as I made the hotel reservatins this morning. (we will be staying at the Best Western Midway over by Lambaue field--read your e-mails!!). We look forward to seeing everyone again, and hope everyone makes it.
Well the Sox just won the second game (at home), with home run hit at the bottome of the ninth inning. Only 2 more to go. I suppose if it couldn't be the Cubs, and at least it isn't the Cards, then the Sox will do. go Sox!!
Well until next time, you all take care and we will see you soon!
Chris and George

fall has fallen and it can't get up!!

Hi there!
Well the farmers are almost done in the fields, and the weather is slowly getting cooler by the day and the covered bridge festival is this weekend (but we're not going this year as it is too much walking for George)so it must be fall in Central Illinois. It's probably past in the U.P.
George goes back for his post operative monthly check up on Wed., and he is expecting the Dr. to do at least more x-rays of his knee, as it is really really bothering him. (he dosen't want a power chair yet). I hope he will find out something.
I worked my midnight shift again last night, two more to go, then I am off, and I also have Frriday off, but then i work Sat and Sun. (so sad). haven't made my mind up about what I will do with two days again!!
No, I haven't been up the street to the car dealer yet to test drive the little sporty escort thingy, but when we were driving back from lunch yesterday, there was a guy looking at it!!! maybe I should do that today, hey?? We'll see. Actually, i'm torn between not having any car payments, and even though it wouldn't be no more than $5,000, to making monthly cap payments again--it took me so long to pay this one off. (it's been free and clear for over a year now!). I don't know what I will do. It wouldn't even be a clean trade, since I plan on selling it to Frannie, as she needs a good dependable car. ????????? don't know
Well I have to go and wake up George here in a little while, as it is garbage day and it's "his" job to put the trash out. (that's o.k., I will let him do it this morning). He had to go to P.T. yesterday, and was late because I did not wake him up until 10:45 and his appoinment was at 11 !!! oops, sorry. So they just rescheduled his time for 2:00. no biggie.
Well that is all for now. Not alot happening here. Oh, except my friend Frannie's sister died last week and I did get to spend some time with her and her sister Dixie
when she was here. Poor Frannie, she just lost her mother last winter, and although hes sister had been ill for sometime now, is having such a hard time. But she was supposed to go back to work on Monday, although I don't know for sure that she did.
Well, I'll post again when I can!! Until then, you all take care!!
Love, chris

checking in...

Well worked the midnight shift againg last night, so here I am on the old pc in the afternoon. Why is it that I can work the aternoon shift and not get anything done, and then work the midnite shift and get everything done I wanted to accomplish and then some?? maybe it has to do with the fact that I don't have any customers during the middle of the night--they ususally start comming in about 4-4:30 am.
George is home with me once again--I think he worked on Monday, but can't remember. He was supposed to work today, but twisted his knee and although the doctor and his nurse tell him not to worry about the pain, it has had him down for the past few days. He needs a doctors note and finally scheduled an appointment to see dr. on Monday--good!!! then he has his surgery follow-up appointment on Wed. Hope they can let us know why there is still so much pain then. Will let you know...
Stephen called me the other day, and he did not go to school, as he was home making toast at 11 in the morning--said he is caught up and could afford a day off. He is still at Walmart part-time but hasn't heard anything about the promotion they offered him a few months ago.
George also has a pc mystery, as he installed the new dvd burner and also a viedo capture card but there is no volume comming thrrough the video card yet--he will figure it out, I suppose. Get it done!! because I am excited and want to start make dvd movies!!
Well that is all for now. If I have time tomorrow (I work 4 to mid tomorrow night), I will post again. BUT, I have a really good excuse--drama at colonial pantry, that is. The boss is trying to get rid of nancy, the third shift lady and she suspended her for not doing her job last week and then some this week--and guess who gets to fill in for her!! yes, i am the lucky employee who takes over the midnight shift. I will get the "promotion" when she does finally let her go, but I like that shift because I can get alot done, and I don't have to put up with all the drama on second shift either. And yes, I will get a small raise--cool! I am also seriously considering buying a new car. the local car dealer guy up the street has this cute little Ford Escort sports model ZXsomething or other for under 5k and it's a 2000. My friend Frannie needs a car so I think I will sell her my car so she has good reliable transportation. She then will sell her car to our other friend, mr. monster truck driver, Rob who wants Frannies car for his daughter. We just got to get up off our butts and do this because by time we get around to do it, the car will be sold, and I will be mad if it gets sold out from under me. Will let you know more about it later..
George is hame with me again, as his knee is bothering him some and I'm always working on theweekends. So he stayed home with me yesterday and today. He ordered a new flat screen for himself and a new hard drive for my pc and a new viedo capture card for my pc also. So soon I may have a new "career" as I want to learnn how to put movies from vhs to dvd. and I think I would have alot of business and be very busy doing it. will let you know how that comes along also. promise..
until then, our plans for Thanksgiving are still on, although i think it will be just Georege and I. (Boing, boing, goes George's new mouse. But I can't wait to see everyone again, een though it will only be for a day. (Of course, that could also change tomorrow). So until next time, you all be good. Had a great day at work, as I got out of there on time today. And since I work at midnight tomorrow night, I have tomorrow "off". I have to go to the bank and pay some bills, and then I have to go and do laundry, as I have wore my work pants to their limit--they would be walking and working without me in them soon.
Well we have the new computers up and running--I love this new keyboard!!and new flat screen monitor. Also, as I am here online right now, George and I are in the middle of taping our first thing off of the new dish system--the Eagles Farewell Concert which is being aired on bravo. We are going to see how it works. It was weird, as I found it and it started and by time I decieded to tape it, it had started. But with the dish upgrade--like tivo--we could "rewind" to the very start of the concert and start to record. And when we go to watch it, we can skip the commercials--cool, hey??? We'll let you know how it works--if I like it or not.
Also, I was online and into my computer earlier and I am learning how to make videos and movies. Will also let you know how that turns out--George says we might have a new business if we can master it. cool!!!
Well that all for now--back to learning how to make movies. have a good night.
Love, Chris and George

welcome to the 90's Mr. Bonks...

Some people have 5 t.v.s' some people have 5 dogs, but as of Today, Geoge and Christine have 5 computers!!! Why do we need 5 computers, you may ask??? Because George ordered a new one which would be compatible with the DVD burner that was included in our dish upgrade. (We have a new dish system too--now we have to get a new HD t.v.--we just got a new T.V. las year). And then his old one--the one he is using now, will be strickly for his train game. I get the new monitor--flat screen, cool. So soon, we will be able to make movies and burn not only cd's but dvd's also. It's no longer the computer roon--it's the studio.
Well George is making a great recovery, he had another PT session today, and he dosen't like it-aahhh, so sad. He is also going back to work--desk work only, as Dr. Monaco stressed--on Monday. Yeah Hah!! I don't know how nuch more of him I could take being underfoot, and being on the comptuer-almost-224/7. Now he can go back to work and be on the computer--and do real work. ha ha.
Well that is all for now. I have to go and learn how to use my-yet another-remote for this dish thing. Have a good day, and a better tomorrow!
Love, Chris and George

No surgery is good surgery..

George had his knee surgery today. Since he was scheduled for surgery at 7:30, we got up at 3 and were at the hospital to check him in at 5:30. (Of course, I didn't get any real sleep the night before). So right as they were going to gown him and put him in a bed, the nurse informs George that Dr. Monaco had an unscheduled "full knee procedure" beore him, and to come back at 8:30, for a 10:30 operation time. Luckily, there was a Perkins resturant within walking hospital (across the parking lot) and Christine got to go and have choclate chip pancakes and a pot of coffee (which didn't help). After loietering in the restaurant for about an hour or so, we paid the bill and walked back to the van where George somehow found a comfortable postition to take a short nap until 8:30. I on the other hand, "tossed and turned" as I am not used to sleeping in a veichle and in an upright position at that. But at 8:30 they were ready for him. He went and got checked in, gowned and they stuck an I.V. in his arm.(he looked so cute in his buffont cap). THERE IS A FLY WITH ONE WING BUGGING ME !!!! I only got to be with him for about a half an hour or so and they took him in. the nurse told me it would be about an hour and half procedure, so I went to the gift shop, and then back up to the waiting room. (waiting room chairs aren't made for sleeping either). It was going on two hours and I kept remembering what mother told me about when I had my heart surgery, and how dad was pacing so much he was wearing out his shoes, and that they waited so long that at a certain point the docotor could come out with any news good or bad. That's how I was feeling, except just really tired. Everytime the receptionists phone would ring I expected it to be news about George and that he was out of surgery and in recovery, but he was almost the last patient to be done. Dr. Monaco finally appreared and told me the surgery went fine, but there was alot more worse damage to his knee and he expects George will need a total knee replacement sometime in the future. ("not soon, but he would like to put it off for another 10 years, but it's doubtful"). Then it was another hour for him to get from reecovery back into "the ward", to where I could go see him. When I finally got to see him, I was in shock!! He was sitting up, very coherent, very little pain, and ready to go home. (I expected him to be very groggy and sick from the anthesia, but he didn't have a bad reaction to it at all). When we finall left, I had to drive the van and that was fun. (I don't drive the van, I'm used to my car) as I had to remember that I had precious cargo in the back seat (pokey driving--everyone passed us). After a pit stop at KFC, we made it home and once he got settled, and iced, and medicated (take your pills, or I'll go get Frannie--our friend who is a nurse, for real) we both took a good nap. I slept until 7:30 or so, and been up now for a while. George on the other had is taking another nap at the moment. He had to be at the doctor's office at 11 a.m. tomorrow and then straight to physical therapy from there (paybacks are a kick in tha pants, aren't they!!). Well, that is all for now, more tomorrow when we get home. Everyone, take care.
Chris and George

a week later...

Well tomorrow it will have been a week since my last post, and yes, I'm still here. I've been busy with work (need to find another job), but did manage to go to the festival Friday night. I went with my friend Dawn, and her son, Mikey. He appreciated the carnival, we apprecieated the carnival food. We also played bingo.
No, Stephen did not get any orders to go and help down in Biloxi, and he says that he doubts that he will (good), as the fall semester has started for Robyn and him. George made it back from Indy safe and sound, and showed up earlier than I expected, as his knee was really bothering him and he couldn't take it anymore. He didn't even wait for lunch to be seved,as it is included with his Top-Eliminator Club ticket (good seats, free lemonade, and water, nice restrooms, and a big tented area which serves one good meal a day). It didn't help that he never did set up the tent, and slept in the van!! Oh, well, hopefully the doctor will fix his knee problem next Tuesday. WEll that is all about what is going on in Paxton for the moment. Kind of dull. And I am off to find me something for lunch (Chineese or Subway??).
Hope you all have a good day, and a better tomorrow!
Chris and George

this is what one was..

I was just there...

I don't know about all of you, but in between working the third shift, I've been watching the news and the devestation left by the hurricane. This morning I saw some pictures of the damage in Biloxi. I can't believe it's the same place. I was just there over New Year's weekend with Stephen. There were some pictures of the casino that I hit the jackpot at, and I hardly recognized it. Also, when I was down there, they were building the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino and this morning I saw that it got totaled. They reported that Keesler AFB would be reopend tommorow, and most of the planes had been relocated before the storm hit, which is good news. And the damage in New Orleans is ssooo bad, I can't imagine. I've been trying to get ahold of Stephen to see if they would be going down there to help, but, again he hadn't called me back. I will let you know when I know.
George made it Indy safe and sound, but when he woke up this morning, it was rainning--renements of the storm. (funny--it's just cloudy and breezy here) He said he slept in the van, and is waiting for the rain to let up so he can set up the tent.(probably tomorrow). Boy is he having fun--ha ha ha.
Well I hope everyone is fine, and I will keep you updated with what is happening with Stephen. Have a great day!!
Chris

Monday, Monday

Well it's about 3:oo in the aftrnoon, and George is finally getting around to start pack for his annual pilgrimage to Indy. He's got to pack his clothes, and all his electronics (never leave home without them), and all he camping stuff, and check out the van and also check out my car for me before he leaves. He wants to be able to set up camp before it gets dark. (We'll see). And, yes, of course, I am left home alone because I have to work. (Well the other option is quitting and going with him--I don't think so).
Oh, no, Travis does not have a baby--the woman who he is living with and is involved with has custody of her granddaughter--no it's not Travis' baby--it's hers, well, her grandaughter anyway. Got it?? (That was funny when I saw that!!) But--if he were to marry her that would make me a step-great grandma!!! (figure that one out!!). No, wait, I am just warming up to the thought of being a Grandma--and am anxious for Robyn and Stephen to get married and have a baby. (well, I know they have to finish school first). Speaking of Stephen, he finally called me back the other day, and he is thinking of changing his major again--this time to high schooh mathematics (teaching), and also coaching football and basketball. I told him he needs to talk to Uncle Paul and Todd about that one. He is considering that now, because Robyn is studying elementary education. I told him to make up his mind.
Well, Mr. George is busy out in the garage--and the hood is up on the van and all the doors are open so he must be busy out there, you think?? I don't know what I am going to do on Thursday and Friday--my two days off--I am thinking to going to the Sweetcorn Festival Friday nite to the demo derby, but I have to find someone who isn't working to go with me. I'll keep you posted.
Hope you all have a fun and safe Labor Day weekend!!
Chris

George took a picture of me in front of Rob's Hot Wheels Monster Truck. It wasn't what the doctor thought it was and they just had to make a small incision in her little head and drained it out. I'm glad. He has talked to his dad, sort of, and is feeling better about his job. He is considering letting Stephen get him a job at Wal-mart, even though it won't be as much money--I told him, it shouldn't be about the money now, but be about the job. He needs to find something he likes and stick with it for awhile.
A funny thing happened to me on the way to work--I got to work, and found out I did not have to work tonight!!I must have an old schedule--I didn't even look at the date!! So I said, sorry and came home. So I spent my afternoon listening to Yooper's CD's., as George was at work. Speaking of George...he is going to Indy over Labor Day weekend to the drag races--he goes every year, but I'm worried about him this year, as he camps in the tent, and I'm scared he will get down on the ground and not be able to get back up!! But he's going to go. I have to stay here and work. (Boo). Maybe I will get a day or two off in a row and go over then, but I doubt it being a holday weekend and all.
Well, going to bed here soon. Until netxt time, take care.
Chris

did you know I have two sons??

Well last night's shift despite my heartburn, was, at best, uneventful. In fact, one of our local constibles, Officer Yates came in and check on me three times. (He makes the best coffee). So, having got all my work done, while taking three breaks, had a good productive night.
I called Travis Monday to see how he was, and his "girlfriend" Chris answered. Of course he was at work, and so I got to talk with her awhile. (I don't know wha to call her because she isn't a girl, she's a thirty something grandmother of a baby that she had custody of). Anyway, the they came by last Wednesday on their way back from Champaign, as she had to go to the doctor about her legs. (She was in a bad car wreck last year and is now sceduled for her surgery the day after George's on the 14th). I took them out for lunch and Travis hardly ate anything. So when she had me on the phone she was telling me about Travis being so stressed out about everything that she was really concerened about him. One, he is mad at his dad (I filled her in on that). and I suggested what he do about that. Secondly he hates his job, I don't know exactly why because where he lives at there are no good jobs over there. He desperately wants to go to school full time like Stephen but he worked full time two years ago, that he made too much money for student loans or grants or anything. (That's what they tell me). And now on top of Chris' upcomming surgery, they are taking the baby in for surgery--poor little thing had a big knot in the middle of her forehead and it hasn't gone away--this comming Thursday. They are going over to Peoria on Wed night after Travis gets home from work, and spending the night before over there. I hope eerything goes well, as she is afraid that Trais won't be able to hang around, as he will have to get back and go to work that Friday. And then she also told me that he fell off the porch here lately and split his head wide open. It was so bad that they called the amublance to take him for stitches. And so he is stressing about all his medical bills. Anyway, he called me today, and I told him not to be a worry wart, just go with the flow. And as soon as he could, he will be ablt to go and find another job, and in time go back to school. I offered to pay for one or two classes this semester, but he did not want to do that--work and go to school, so he will have to wait I guess.
Now...Stephen on the other hand is donig well, I think. I've been trying to call him for the past few days but haven't gotten through to him yet. a(and he hasn't called me back). I'm anxious to know how school is going for him, as he is taking a full course load, and also working part-time at the local Wal-mart. Speaking of, they interviewed him for like an assist mgr. position there, but I don't know if he will take it, as they say they would work around his school schedule, but we know how that works, once they got you hooked they expect that you put the hours in--and I told him that!! (I don' think he should take it). I told him that he just had one year of his life doing something so he can pay for shcool--and that should be his focus now. I hope he dosen't take it and keeps focused on school.
Well my typing sucks, so I have to go. Until next time, take care. I will try and keep you posted of allthe upcomming sugeries as best I can.
Chris and George

In June we went to Quicy Illinois to see our friend Rob Knell race monster trucks. Well first of all, I haven't been too consistant with my postings because of my schedule--or lack thereof-at work. On one of my previous entries, I was telling you about how when George and I arrived home from vacation, Colonial was calling me to come into work, and I went uptown instead. Well, I guess I missed out alot at work while I was on vacation, as one of girls finally quit this past week. (long story). So I've been working some weird hours and filling in. (I got over being on vacation really quick). And yesterday, I stayed until "the work got done" --which was about and extra 2 hours-- as none of the side work got done for the past 2 days!! And then Saturday was "grocery day", when our truck order came in and that had to be put away. So I stayed and got it done, as our boss was on vacation this week, and she should be back this morning--we wanted everything done when she came back. And so now I expect my schedule to change this week again, as we did have someone new hired--a young girl--and she quit before she started, as her friend was going to have a baby and she had to be there. All I know right now is I will be working my usual 12 midnight (tonight) to 8 am tomorrow morning for Nancy--she works the midnight shift, and I cover her two nights off on Monday and Tuesday nights. But anything past that is really up in the air. But yes, I am grateful for my job, but I just wish we could smooth out the schedule and work load a little and get someone in there who will work and is dependable. (How hard is that??). I like the job because it is right up the street, if I had to, I could walk, and to be honest, I don't mind them calling me in to fill in just for that reason--it's convienent for me. It's not like I have to drive and great distance--and George walks down to see me on the weekends and stops in when he gets home from work.
Anyway that is why my bloggs are hit and miss right now. Sorry .
Footnote...speaking of Mr. George--just to let you all know (well all of you who read our bloggs anyway) George is scheduled to go in for knee surgery on Sept. 13th. Some time ago, he wacked his knee and chipped a piece of bone in the knee cap and here lately it had been giving him lots of pain--not when he'sjust walking--but when he is going up and down stairs. He uses the frieght elevator at work, but here lately, he's called in alot. But, he did really good on vacation. The doctor dong the suregery is the same ortho surgeon who repaired my wrist--very competent man. So, I'm not worried about the surgery itself, I'm concerned with the recovery and final results. (It's my turn to be nuse maid).
Well, speaking of wrists, mine are hurting--not used to typing so much-- so until next time, tke care.
Chris

George and Christine at the Moosejaw Pizza and Brew Pub, Wisconsin Dells. We rented a condo on the upper dells (9 miles north of downtown) and it was really nice. (that is peaceful--no crowds and no kids around). And as I told Dawn and Paul--we did not do the waterparks or rode any rollercoasters (sorry). We rode two different trains, took a slow boat tour of the lower Dells (it was sooo hot that day), and took a horse-drawn wagon tour through the lost canyon--it was nice and cool down there!! I told Dawn and Paul their kids would not have had a good time with us, they're not "train" kids and not shopping kids. We also went to the casino and on the first day I won $50 with just a $40 investment, but on the second visit, Christine was a sore looser!!!, as I didn't win anything!!! We also ate out alot. In Milwaukee we stayed at an Excell Inn kind of close to the fair, but just down the street from the zoo. We went to the zoo, and I got to see REAL LIVE MOOSE!!!!! Yeah!!! I was in Moose heaven. We could have hung out at the moose exhibit all afternoon, but the state fair was calling, and we did not want to miss the other whole point of the vacation--to see the Yoopers perform at the fair. They had 2 shows on Friday and Staurday at 5 p.m. The first day, we arrived early and in order to get good seats, sat in the the group perfoming before them, The Kids from Wisconsin--and they were awsome!!! (It's kind of like a show or swing chior, high school kids attend a summer camp for this, and then perfom all week at the fair) Anyway they were great--some play instruments and then about 20 kids sing. So that was a pleasent surprise. Right after they were finished the Yoopers came on and they were awsome also!! We also got to watch the horse and buggy classes in the coluseium Friday night--that was good. We also saw the Budwieser clydedales--including the little donkey who wants to be a clydesdale--Margret!! She had a pen right in the middle of their's !! How cute!!
Well that's a little report from our vacation. We also took alot of pictures and some video. let us know if you would like a copy of either!! (But the best part of any trip is comming home). Well, till next time, take care!
Love Chris and George.

Welcome to my blog!!

Hello, and welcome to Little Orleans, home of George and Christine.
We just returned home from vacation yesterday. We had gone to Wisconsin Dells, and then to Milwaukee where we went to the zoo and the state fair. The highlight of the stae fair was seeing that great comedy group from the U.P.--Da Yoopers!! Yep, Christine's whole vacation revolved around a bunch of crazy yoopers!! They were very entertaining, and during intermission, I spoke with Lynne, and asked them why they dont' ever perform closer to us in Illinois, and she said it had to do with different promoters, etc. Wll, we'll see about that next year. They need a great booking agent!! I also got a kick out of the one guy with the group who was from Rantoul--he knew where Paxton was!! ("Paxton, Ludlow, then Rantoul, right??"). Yep, you never know who Yoppers may be!
Anyway, we had'nt been home for an hour when my cell phone rang and it was Colonial Pantry calling me!! (Boo). Did Chrisitne answer it--no Christine did not answer it, Christine ran to the Bowling Alley as fast as she could, after all, she was on her last day of vacation!! George on the other hand, took a nap in his east chair after that long drive home.
I apologize if this first entry is a bit rough, or scetchy, but I will try harder next time, as I will share more about our great vacation, and our life and times here in Central Illinois.
